The Northern Ireland Connected Health Innovation Centre (CHIC), which is an Industry-led competence centre, completes a set of three workshops today with an industry launch of this new and important initiative. This staged approach to understating the needs of the sector is key to developing a strong centre and the next phase will be to address clinical and academic partners. A planned opening of the centre is planned for later in the year.

The centre is focused on collaborative research, innovation and development to support the connected health industry. Members are drawn from a wide spectrum of business interest including; health providers, medical device companies, systems integrators, health record specialists, clinical test experts and digital media developers.

The centre is based in Northern Ireland at the University of Ulster and has strong links across Local Government, Universities and Public Health and Social care providers. The integration provides health and social care partners with collaborative projects which embrace a patient and citizen centric approach resulting in a faster time to market, resulting in economic and patient benefits.

“We are delighted at how the early stages of the centre are developing and it is now clear how CHIC will play a major role in developing the overall Northern Ireland Connected Health Eco system”. states Stephen McComb the new CHIC Technology Leader.
