Alan Kennedy is one of a number of PHD researchers working alongside the CHIC researchers in Jordanstown. Congratulations to Alan who has been selected as one of the final 4 of the International Society of Computerised Electrocardiology (ISCE) Young Investigator competition. He will be travelling to San Jose in April to present his paper titled :

Improved recording of atrial activity by modified bipolar leads derived from the 12-lead electrocardiogram.”

The Jos Willems Young Investigator Competition is open to current students in an academic degree program; to interns, residents, or fellows; and to anyone who has received a terminal academic degree (or for MDs, completed a residency) within the 4 years prior to the Conference (proof required). A JWYI competition winner may not resubmit to this competition; non-winning finalists may resubmit in the competition only once.

A panel of judges, selected by the JWYI chair and representing diverse disciplines, will rate the submitted abstracts; those young investigators ranked the highest will be invited as finalists to present their work at the Conference. An additional panel of judges selected from Conference participants will decide the winner. Each finalist will receive travel reimbursement in an amount no greater than the least expensive fares obtainable by the executive administrator for each traveller, and will have their conference fees waived. Non-finalists will be invited to present their work at the conference as posters. Those non-finalists attending the conference and presenting a poster will receive a 50% reduction of conference fee.

All JWYI applicants who attend the conference and present their work will receive for the following year an associate membership in ISCE with privileges and benefits. Finalists in the competition also will receive a one year subscription to the Journal of Electrocardiology.
